Formula used

GPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credits

  • 10-point scale = O 10, A+ 9, A 8, B+ 7, B 6, C 5, P 4, F 0
  • 4-point scale = A 4.0, A- 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, B- 2.7 … F 0

About the GPA Calculator

What is the GPA Calculator?

Your grade point average weights each course's grade point by its credits. This gpa calculator accepts letter grades (O, A+, A … or A, A-, B+ …) or numeric grade points on either scale.

It gives the SGPA for a semester, the total credit points and an approximate percentage.

How to use the GPA Calculator

  1. Grading Scale (sample: 10-point (O, A+, A, B+, B, C, P, F – UGC CBCS))
  2. Courses (one per line: course, credits, grade letter or grade point) — one course per line: course name, credits, grade letter or grade point. For example: Mathematics, 4, A. (sample: Mathematics, 4, A Physics, 3, B+ Chemistry, 3, A+ Physics Lab, 2, O English, 2, A)
  3. Press Calculate GPA (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the GPA / SGPA, along with Total credits, Total credit points, Approximate percentage and Percentage basis.

Formula used

GPA = Σ (Credits × Grade point) ÷ Σ Credits

  • 10-point scale = O 10, A+ 9, A 8, B+ 7, B 6, C 5, P 4, F 0
  • 4-point scale = A 4.0, A- 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0, B- 2.7 … F 0

Failed courses (F) count with zero points until cleared, lowering the GPA.

Tips for using the GPA Calculator

  • High-credit courses move your GPA the most – prioritise them.
  • Check your university's grade-point table, as bands differ.

Frequently asked questions

Multiply each course's credits by its grade point, add them up and divide by total credits.

GPA (or SGPA) is for one semester; CGPA averages all semesters, weighted by credits.

Above 8 on a 10-point scale or 3.5 on a 4-point scale is generally considered very good.
