This Privacy Policy describes how Gizcalc ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website at gizcalc.in (the "Platform"). By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Platform. We encourage you to read this policy carefully so you have a clear understanding of how your information is handled.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide Directly

We collect information you directly provide to us when you interact with the Platform in the following ways:

• Account registration: When you create a Gizcalc account, we collect your name, email address, and a hashed version of your password. We do not store plaintext passwords.
• Contact form submissions: When you reach out through our Contact page, we collect your name, email address, subject line, and the message content you submit. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry.
• Calculator inputs: Values you enter into calculators on the Platform are processed entirely within your browser. Calculation logic runs client-side using JavaScript. These values are not transmitted to our servers unless you are a logged-in user and the history save feature is active on your account.
• Notepad content: Text entered in the Gizcalc Notepad is saved in your browser's localStorage and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly save it through an account-linked feature.

1.2 Information We Collect Automatically

When you access the Platform, certain information is collected automatically to help us maintain, secure, and improve the service. This includes:

• Usage data: Pages visited, calculators used, time spent on pages, buttons clicked, search queries entered, and navigation flow across the Platform.
• Device and browser information: Browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution, language preferences, device category (mobile, tablet, or desktop), and whether JavaScript is enabled.
• IP address: Used for security monitoring, fraud prevention, and approximate geographic analytics. IP addresses are hashed before storage and are not used to identify individual users by name or precise location.
• Cookies and localStorage: Used to save your UI preferences (such as theme settings), maintain your logged-in session, and store recent calculation history locally in your browser. See Section 3 for full cookie details.
• Referrer information: The URL of the page that directed you to Gizcalc, if available, to help us understand which sources drive traffic.

1.3 Information from Third-Party Services

We may integrate third-party services on the Platform, including analytics providers, advertising networks, and performance monitoring tools. These third parties may independently collect data about your interaction with their components on our Platform, subject to their own privacy policies. Common services may include Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and similar tools. We encourage you to review those policies directly. Where required by applicable law, we obtain your consent before enabling non-essential third-party cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected on the Platform for the following purposes:

• To provide, maintain, operate, and improve the calculator tools, notepad, and all other Platform features.
• To display and manage saved calculation history for logged-in users.
• To respond to support inquiries, bug reports, partnership proposals, and general feedback received through the Contact page.
• To send account-related communications, including password reset emails, security alerts, and service notifications. We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.
• To monitor Platform performance, diagnose technical errors, and fix bugs promptly.

We do not sell, rent, license, or share your personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Aggregated, anonymised data that cannot be used to identify individual users may be shared for analytics or research purposes.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

The Platform uses cookies, browser localStorage, and sessionStorage for the following purposes:

• Essential cookies: Required for the Platform to function. These include session management cookies that keep you logged in during your visit and CSRF tokens that protect form submissions from cross-site forgery attacks.
• Preference storage: LocalStorage entries save your UI preferences, including theme selection, so they persist across visits without requiring a server round-trip.
• Local calculation history: Recent calculation results may be stored locally in your browser using localStorage, visible only to you on your device. This data is not transmitted to our servers unless you are logged in and the account history feature is active.
• Analytics cookies: We may use Google Analytics or similar tools to collect anonymised usage data. These cookies help us understand how users interact with the Platform in aggregate, without identifying individuals.
• Advertising cookies: If Google AdSense or other ad networks are active on the Platform, they may set cookies to serve relevant advertisements based on your browsing behaviour. You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google's ad settings.

You can clear cookies and localStorage at any time through your browser settings. Doing so will log you out of your Gizcalc account and reset locally saved preferences. Most browsers also allow you to block third-party cookies selectively, which will limit analytics and advertising tracking without affecting the core functionality of the Platform.

4. Data Retention

We retain personal data for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide the services you have requested. If you close your account or request deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain it for fraud prevention, audit, or compliance purposes. Calculation history associated with your account will be deleted alongside your account data unless you have explicitly exported it beforehand.

Aggregate, anonymised analytics data that cannot be linked back to individual users may be retained indefinitely for platform improvement purposes. Contact form submissions are retained for a period of 12 months to allow adequate time for follow-up, after which they are deleted from our systems.

5. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Specific measures include:

• Password hashing: User passwords are stored as one-way cryptographic hashes. We do not have access to your plaintext password and cannot retrieve it.
• HTTPS: All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL.
• CSRF protection: All form submissions are protected by CSRF tokens to prevent cross-site request forgery attacks.
• Access controls: Internal access to user data is restricted to authorised team members on a need-to-know basis.

Despite these measures, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, and we encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Gizcalc account and to keep your device and browser updated.

6. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately through the Contact page or by email, and we will delete the relevant data promptly upon verification.

7. Links to External Sites and Affiliate Links

The Platform may contain links to external websites, financial product providers, and affiliate partner pages. When you click these links, you leave the Gizcalc Platform and are subject to the privacy practices of the destination site. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or data handling of third-party websites. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit through links on our Platform.

Some links on the Platform are affiliate links. If you apply for or purchase a financial product through an affiliate link, Gizcalc may receive a commission from the partner institution. This does not affect the price you pay or the accuracy of our calculator results. Affiliate relationships are disclosed in the relevant sections of the Platform.
