About the NFT Royalty Calculator
What is the NFT Royalty Calculator?
When an NFT is resold, the original creator usually gets an NFT royalty – a percentage of the sale price – and the marketplace takes a fee. This calculator shows how the sale price is split.
In India, NFTs are virtual digital assets: the seller pays 30% tax plus cess on the gain over the purchase cost, with no deduction for fees or royalty.
How to use the NFT Royalty Calculator
- Sale Price (₹) (sample: 1,00,000)
- Creator Royalty (%) (sample: 5)
- Marketplace Fee (%) (sample: 2.5)
- Gas / Network Fee (₹) (sample: 500)
- Seller's Purchase Cost (₹, 0 if you minted it) (sample: 60,000)
- Press Calculate NFT Sale & Royalty (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Seller Profit After Tax, along with Creator royalty, Marketplace fee, Seller receives and Tax on the sale (30% + cess).
Formula used
Seller receives = Price − Royalty − Marketplace fee − Gas
- Tax = 31.2% × (sale price − purchase cost)
The creator's royalty income is taxed at slab rates as business or other income.
