About the DCA Calculator
What is the DCA Calculator?
Dollar-cost averaging (DCA) means investing a fixed amount at regular intervals regardless of price. You automatically buy more units when prices are low. This DCA calculator uses your actual purchase prices.
It shows your average cost per unit – which is always at or below the simple average of the prices – and the current value of your holding.
How to use the DCA Calculator
- Amount Invested Each Time (₹) (sample: 10,000)
- Price at Each Purchase (separated by commas) — the price at each purchase, separated by commas. (sample: 5200000, 4800000, 4500000, 5100000, 5600000, 5400000)
- Current Price (₹) (sample: 58,00,000)
- Press Calculate DCA Result (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Current Value, along with Total invested, Profit / loss, Return and Average cost per unit.
Formula used
Units = Σ Amount ÷ Price; Average cost = Total invested ÷ Units
- Average cost = the harmonic mean of the purchase prices
DCA reduces timing risk; it does not guarantee a profit.
