About the Salary Negotiation Calculator
What is the Salary Negotiation Calculator?
Going into a salary negotiation with numbers ready makes it easier. This calculator sets a target from your desired hike and the market median, then suggests a counter-offer slightly above it so there is room to meet in the middle.
It also defines your walk-away point, so you know which offers to decline.
How to use the Salary Negotiation Calculator
- Current CTC (₹) (sample: 10,00,000)
- Offered CTC (₹) (sample: 11,50,000)
- Market Median CTC for the Role (₹, 0 if unknown) (sample: 13,00,000)
- Hike You Are Aiming For (%) (sample: 30)
- Minimum Acceptable Hike (%) (sample: 15)
- Press Plan My Negotiation (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Suggested Counter-Offer, along with Hike in the current offer, Your target CTC, Likely settlement if you counter and Walk-away point.
Formula used
Counter-offer = max(Current × (1 + Target hike), Market median) × 1.05
- Likely settlement = midpoint of the offer and your counter
- Walk-away = current CTC × (1 + minimum hike)
Rounded up to the nearest ₹10,000.
