Maximum Demand —

Sample inputs are pre-filled so you can see a result quickly. Results are estimates only and may not be accurate because prices, interest rates, taxes, fees, fuel costs, tariffs, market returns, medical costs, and local rules can change. Please verify current values before making financial, tax, legal, medical, or business decisions.

Formula used

Maximum demand = Connected load × Diversity factor

  • Connected load = Σ watts × quantity
  • Energy = Σ watts × quantity × hours ÷ 1,000 kWh
  • Current = maximum demand ÷ (voltage × power factor)

About the Load Flow Calculator

What is the Load Flow Calculator?

Before applying for a new connection or sizing an inverter, list every appliance. This electrical load calculator adds up the connected load and applies a diversity factor, because not everything runs at once.

It gives the maximum demand in kW and amps, energy use per day and month, and a suggested sanctioned load.

How to use the Load Flow Calculator

  1. Loads (one per line: name, watts each, quantity, hours per day) — one appliance per line: name, watts each, quantity, hours per day. For example: Ceiling fan, 75, 4, 12. (sample: Ceiling fan, 75, 4, 12 LED light, 10, 12, 6 Refrigerator, 150, 1, 24 AC 1.5 ton, 1500, 1, 8 Water pump, 750, 1, 1 TV, 100, 1, 5)
  2. Diversity / Demand Factor (%) (sample: 70)
  3. Supply Voltage (V) (sample: 230)
  4. Average Power Factor (sample: 0.9)
  5. Press Build Load Schedule (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Maximum Demand, along with Connected load, Current at maximum demand, Energy per day and Energy per month (30 days).

Formula used

Maximum demand = Connected load × Diversity factor

  • Connected load = Σ watts × quantity
  • Energy = Σ watts × quantity × hours ÷ 1,000 kWh
  • Current = maximum demand ÷ (voltage × power factor)

A diversity factor of 60–80% is typical for homes.

Tips for using the Load Flow Calculator

  • Use nameplate wattage; ACs and geysers dominate most household loads.
  • The sanctioned load should cover your maximum demand to avoid penalties.
