About the Steps to Calories Calculator
What is the Steps to Calories Calculator?
How many calories do your steps burn? This steps to calories calculator estimates your stride from your height, converts steps into distance and time, and applies the energy cost (MET) of your pace.
It shows total calories and the calories above what you would burn at rest.
How to use the Steps to Calories Calculator
- Steps (sample: 8,000)
- Weight (kg) (sample: 70)
- Height (cm) (sample: 170)
- Pace (sample: Brisk walk (~5.5 km/h, 4.3 MET))
- Press Convert Steps to Calories (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Calories Burned, along with Distance, Time spent, Calories above resting and Calories per 1,000 steps.
Formula used
Calories = MET × Weight (kg) × Time (hours)
- Stride = walking about 0.414 × height; running about 0.65 × height
- MET = casual walk 3.0, brisk walk 4.3, easy run 8.3
Fitness trackers use similar models; treat all such numbers as estimates.
