About the Registration Charges Calculator
What is the Registration Charges Calculator?
Besides stamp duty, the buyer pays a registration fee to the sub-registrar to record the sale deed in government records. In most states it is 1% of the property value; some states cap it (Maharashtra at ₹30,000) and a few charge 2%.
Enter the property value, choose the state and buyer type. This registration charges calculator shows the registration fee, the stamp duty for reference and the total paid to the government.
How to use the Registration Charges Calculator
- Property Value (₹, agreement or circle rate, whichever is higher) (sample: 80,00,000)
- State / City (sample: Maharashtra – Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Nagpur (incl. 1% metro cess))
- Buyer (sample: Man)
- Custom Stamp Duty Rate (% – for “Other state”) (sample: 6)
- Custom Registration Fee (% – for “Other state”) (sample: 1)
- Press Calculate Registration Charges (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Registration Fee, along with Stamp duty (for reference), Registration + stamp duty and Registration as % of value.
Formula used
Registration fee = Property value × Registration rate (subject to any cap)
- Maharashtra = 1%, capped at ₹30,000
- Delhi, Karnataka, UP and others = about 1%
- Kerala = about 2%
Scanning, document-handling and e-registration fees are small extras not included here.
