About the Multi-year Tax Projection
What is the Multi-year Tax Projection?
The best regime this year may not be the best in five years, as raises push you into higher slabs and your deductions stay flat. This tax projection calculator projects your tax year by year under both regimes using FY 2025-26 rules.
Enter your current salary, expected growth, the number of years and the old-regime deductions you claim each year. The table shows each year's tax under both regimes, and the totals show which regime saves more over the whole period.
How to use the Multi-year Tax Projection
- Current Gross Salary (₹ per year) (sample: 15,00,000)
- Expected Salary Growth (% per year) (sample: 8)
- Years to Project (sample: 5)
- Old-Regime Deductions per Year (₹, excl. standard) (sample: 2,50,000)
- Press Project My Taxes (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Total Tax Saved by the Better Regime, along with Better regime over the period, Cumulative tax – new regime and Cumulative tax – old regime.
Formula used
Salaryₙ = Current salary × (1 + growth)ⁿ⁻¹
- New regime tax = on salary − ₹75,000
- Old regime tax = on salary − ₹50,000 − your deductions
Tax slabs are held constant at FY 2025-26 levels; future budgets may change them.

Tips for using the Multi-year Tax Projection
- As income rises, fixed deductions become a smaller share, so the new regime often wins more over time.
- Salaried taxpayers can switch regimes every year, so re-check annually.
- Budget announcements in February can change the picture — update the projection then.
