About the Minimum Payment Calculator
What is the Minimum Payment Calculator?
The minimum amount due on a credit card is usually just 5% of the outstanding balance. Paying only that keeps your account in good standing, but interest keeps running on the rest — and as the balance falls, so does the minimum, stretching repayment over years.
Enter your balance, the card rate and the minimum-due rules. This minimum payment calculator shows how long paying only the minimum takes, the interest and GST it costs, and how much you save by paying a fixed amount equal to your first minimum due instead.
How to use the Minimum Payment Calculator
- Outstanding Card Balance (₹) (sample: 1,00,000)
- Card Interest Rate (% per year) (sample: 42)
- Minimum Amount Due (% of balance) (sample: 5)
- Minimum Due Floor (₹) (sample: 200)
- Press Calculate Minimum Payment Trap (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Time to Clear Paying Only the Minimum, along with Interest + GST paying only the minimum, First minimum amount due, If you keep paying ₹5,000 every month and Interest + GST with that fixed payment.
Formula used
Minimum due = max(Balance × Minimum %, Floor amount)
- Monthly interest = balance × annual rate ÷ 12, plus 18% GST
Because the minimum falls with the balance, the debt shrinks very slowly — often for decades.
