About the Market Cap Calculator
What is the Market Cap Calculator?
Market capitalisation is the total market value of a company's equity: share price multiplied by the number of shares. It is how the market sizes a company and how funds classify stocks as large-, mid- or small-cap.
Enter the share price, the number of shares outstanding (in crore) and the promoter or locked-in holding. The calculator shows the market cap in ₹ crore, lakh crore and full rupees, plus the free-float market cap — the value of shares actually available for trading, which index providers use.
How to use the Market Cap Calculator
- Share Price (₹) (sample: 1,500)
- Shares Outstanding (crore) (sample: 60)
- Promoter & Locked-in Holding (%) (sample: 50)
- Press Calculate Market Cap (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Market Capitalisation, along with Market cap in lakh crore, Market cap in rupees, Free-float market cap and Free-float factor.
Formula used
Market cap = Share price × Shares outstanding
- Free-float market cap = Market cap × (1 − promoter & locked-in holding %)
With shares entered in crore and price in rupees, the result is directly in ₹ crore.

Tips for using the Market Cap Calculator
- SEBI classifies the top 100 listed companies by market cap as large-cap, 101–250 as mid-cap and the rest as small-cap; AMFI publishes the list every six months.
- Market cap changes every trading second with the share price.
- Enterprise value (market cap + debt − cash) is better for comparing companies with different debt levels.
