About the Magnetic Flux Converter
What is the Magnetic Flux Converter?
This magnetic flux converter switches between the SI weber and the CGS maxwell and their multiples.
Magnetic flux is flux density times area: Φ = B × A.
How to use the Magnetic Flux Converter
- Value (sample: 1)
- From (sample: Weber (Wb))
- To (sample: Maxwell (Mx))
- Press Convert (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Converted Value, along with Result, Conversion factor and Reverse factor.
Formula used
1 Wb = 1 T·m² = 10⁸ Mx
- Wb = weber (SI)
- Mx = maxwell (CGS)
Worked example
These are the sample values already filled in the calculator above, and the result it returns for them:
| Input | Sample value |
|---|---|
| Value | 1 |
| From | Weber (Wb) |
| To | Maxwell (Mx) |
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Converted Value | 10,00,00,000 Mx |
| Result | 1 Wb = 10,00,00,000 Mx |
| Conversion factor | 1 Wb = 10,00,00,000 Mx |
| Reverse factor | 1 Mx = 1 × 10⁻⁸ Wb |
Tips for using the Magnetic Flux Converter
- For flux density (tesla, gauss), divide flux by area first.
- Transformer cores are designed around peak flux, which sets the core size.
