About the KVP Calculator
What is the KVP Calculator?
Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP) is a post office certificate that doubles your investment over a fixed period set by the prevailing interest rate. It is fully backed by the Government of India and open to all resident individuals, not just farmers.
Enter the amount and the current rate. The calculator works out the doubling period (115 months at 7.5% compounded yearly) and shows the maturity value, which is always twice the investment.
How to use the KVP Calculator
- Investment Amount (₹, minimum ₹1,000) (sample: 1,00,000)
- KVP Interest Rate (% per year, compounded yearly) (sample: 7.5)
- Press Calculate KVP Maturity (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Maturity Value (Doubled), along with Time to double, Months to maturity, Interest earned and Premature encashment allowed after.
Formula used
Doubling period = ln 2 ÷ ln(1 + r) years
- r = the annual KVP rate, compounded yearly
At 7.5%, ln 2 ÷ ln 1.075 ≈ 9.58 years ≈ 115 months, the official KVP maturity period.
