About the Health Risk Flag Calculator
What is the Health Risk Flag Calculator?
Heart disease, stroke and diabetes share the same risk factors. This health risk checker reviews five of them together against Indian and international cut-offs and flags the ones outside the healthy range.
If abdominal obesity comes with two or more other flags, it also warns about possible metabolic syndrome.
How to use the Health Risk Flag Calculator

- Weight (kg) (sample: 78)

Formula used
Flags = count of measures outside their healthy range
- BMI = 18.5–22.9 (Asian Indian)
- Waist = under 90 cm (men) or 80 cm (women)
- Blood pressure = under 130/85
- Fasting sugar = 70–99 mg/dL
This is a screening estimate for general information, not a diagnosis. Discuss your results with a doctor.

- Adults over 30 should have BP, blood sugar and lipids checked at least once a year.
- Most of these factors improve together with weight loss, activity and less salt and sugar.
