About the Goal Reverse SIP Calculator
What is the Goal Reverse SIP Calculator?
Most goals are easier to state in today's prices — “a ₹25 lakh car” or “a ₹20 lakh course”. The reverse SIP calculator first inflates the goal to the year you need it, then finds the monthly SIP that will build exactly that amount.
Enter the goal in today's money, years to the goal, the goal's inflation, your expected return and an optional yearly step-up. The result shows the future cost of the goal, the monthly SIP required, what you will invest in total and how much will come from returns.
How to use the Goal Reverse SIP Calculator
- Goal Amount in Today's Money (₹) (sample: 25,00,000)
- Years to Goal (sample: 10)
- Inflation for This Goal (% per year) (sample: 6)
- Expected Return (% per year) (sample: 12)
- Annual SIP Step-Up (%) (sample: 0)
- Press Find Required SIP (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Monthly SIP Needed, along with Goal value at target date, Total you will invest, Growth from returns and SIP in the final year.
Formula used
SIP = Future goal ÷ FV of ₹1 monthly SIP
- Future goal = Goal today × (1 + inflation)^years
- FV of ₹1 SIP = ((1 + i)ⁿ − 1) ÷ i × (1 + i), adjusted for any step-up
Use a goal-specific inflation rate: education 8–10%, general expenses 5–6%.

Tips for using the Goal Reverse SIP Calculator
- Revisit the SIP every year; if returns are lower, top up to stay on track.
- For goals under 5 years away, assume lower returns and prefer debt or hybrid funds.
- Starting two years earlier can cut the required SIP significantly.
