About the Goal-Based SIP AI
What is the Goal-Based SIP AI?
A goal-based SIP calculator works backwards from a specific target — say ₹1 crore in 12 years — to the SIP you need today, allowing for a yearly step-up as your income grows.
Enter the target corpus, the years to the goal, the expected return, your current SIP and the annual step-up. The calculator searches for the exact starting SIP that reaches the target, projects your current SIP and shows the remaining gap.
How to use the Goal-Based SIP AI
- Target Corpus (INR) (sample: 1,00,00,000)
- Years (sample: 12)
- Expected Return (%) (sample: 12)
- Current SIP (INR) (sample: 15,000)
- Annual Step-Up (%) (sample: 10)
- Press Find Required SIP (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Required SIP, along with Target Corpus, Current Projection and Goal Gap.
Formula used
Find SIP such that Σ SIP × (1 + s)^(year − 1) × growth to goal = Target
- s = the yearly step-up
- growth to goal = compounding at the expected monthly return until the goal date
The required SIP is found by bisection search, so it is exact to the rupee for your assumptions.
Worked example
These are the sample values already filled in the calculator above, and the result it returns for them:
| Input | Sample value |
|---|---|
| Target Corpus (INR) | 1,00,00,000 |
| Years | 12 |
| Expected Return (%) | 12 |
| Current SIP (INR) | 15,000 |
| Annual Step-Up (%) | 10 |
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Required SIP | ₹20,102 |
| Target Corpus | ₹1,00,00,000 |
| Current Projection | ₹74,61,893 |
| Goal Gap | ₹25,38,107 |
Tips for using the Goal-Based SIP AI
- Inflate today's goal cost before entering the target.
- A step-up lets you start with a smaller SIP but relies on raising it every year.
- Move money to safer debt funds as the goal gets within 2–3 years.
