About the ESOP Tax Calculator

What is the ESOP Tax Calculator?

Employee stock options (ESOPs) are taxed twice in India. At exercise, the difference between the fair market value and your exercise price is a perquisite taxed as salary. At sale, the difference between the sale price and the FMV at exercise is a capital gain.

Enter the number of shares, exercise price, FMV on exercise, sale price, holding period, whether the shares are listed in India and your slab. This ESOP tax calculator shows both taxes and your net gain.

How to use the ESOP Tax Calculator

  1. Number of Shares Exercised (sample: 1,000)
  2. Exercise Price per Share (₹) (sample: 100)
