EPF Corpus at Retirement —

Sample inputs are pre-filled so you can see a result quickly. Results are estimates only and may not be accurate because prices, interest rates, taxes, fees, fuel costs, tariffs, market returns, medical costs, and local rules can change. Please verify current values before making financial, tax, legal, medical, or business decisions.

Formula used

Monthly EPF credit = 12% × W + (12% × W − min(8.33% × W, ₹1,250))

  • W = monthly basic salary + DA
  • Interest = calculated monthly on the running balance at rate ÷ 12 and credited at the end of each year

About the EPF Calculator

What is the EPF Calculator?

The Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) is the mandatory retirement savings scheme for salaried employees in organisations with 20 or more staff. You contribute 12% of your basic salary plus dearness allowance every month, and your employer matches it.

The employer's 12% is split: 8.33% of wages (on a wage ceiling of ₹15,000, so at most ₹1,250 a month) goes to the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS) and only the rest goes to your EPF account. This calculator applies that split correctly, grows your salary every year, credits interest annually and shows your EPF corpus at retirement.

How to use the EPF Calculator

  1. Monthly Basic Salary + DA (₹) — your monthly basic salary plus dearness allowance, not your gross or CTC. (sample: 30,000)
  2. Current Age (sample: 30)
  3. Retirement Age (sample: 58)
  4. Current EPF Balance (₹) (sample: 2,00,000)
  5. Expected Salary Growth (% per year) (sample: 7)
  6. EPF Interest Rate (% per year) — 8.25% was declared for FY 2024-25; the rate is announced every year. (sample: 8.25)
  7. Voluntary PF (VPF, % of basic) — optional extra contribution as a percentage of basic. (sample: 0)
  8. Press Calculate EPF Corpus (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the EPF Corpus at Retirement, along with Your contributions, Employer contributions to EPF, Interest earned and This month: your share (12% + VPF).

Formula used

Monthly EPF credit = 12% × W + (12% × W − min(8.33% × W, ₹1,250))

  • W = monthly basic salary + DA
  • Interest = calculated monthly on the running balance at rate ÷ 12 and credited at the end of each year

Voluntary PF (VPF) is added to your share and earns the same rate. The EPS portion builds your pension, not your EPF balance.

Tips for using the EPF Calculator

  • EPF withdrawn after 5 years of continuous service is tax-free.
  • Interest on your own contributions above ₹2.5 lakh a year (₹5 lakh if the employer does not contribute) is taxable.
  • Transfer your EPF when you change jobs instead of withdrawing it — the same UAN follows you.

Frequently asked questions

The employer contributes 12% of basic + DA. Up to ₹1,250 a month (8.33% of ₹15,000) goes to the pension scheme (EPS) and the rest to EPF. On a ₹30,000 basic, that is ₹2,350 to EPF and ₹1,250 to EPS.

8.25% a year for FY 2024-25, as declared by EPFO. Change the rate in the calculator if a new rate is announced.

Interest is tax-free except on your own contributions above ₹2.5 lakh a year (₹5 lakh where the employer does not contribute).

Partial withdrawals are allowed for purposes such as a home, marriage, education and medical treatment, and full withdrawal after two months of unemployment.
