About the Asset Allocation Calculator
What is the Asset Allocation Calculator?
Asset allocation — how you divide money between equity, debt and gold — drives most of a portfolio's long-term return and risk. Getting the mix right for your age and temperament matters more than picking individual funds.
Enter your age, risk appetite and the amount to invest. The calculator starts from the classic “100 minus age” rule for equity, adjusts it for your risk appetite, keeps a small gold allocation for diversification and shows the amount for each asset class.
How to use the Asset Allocation Calculator
- Your Age (sample: 30)
- Risk Appetite (sample: Moderate)
- Amount to Invest (₹) (sample: 10,00,000)
- Press Suggest Allocation (results also refresh as you type). The result card shows the Suggested Equity Allocation, along with Debt allocation, Gold allocation, Equity amount and Debt amount.
Formula used
Equity % = 100 − Age + Risk adjustment (limited to 10–90%)
- Risk adjustment = −20 conservative, 0 moderate, +15 aggressive
- Gold = 10% (5% for aggressive investors)
- Debt = 100 − equity − gold
This is a rule of thumb, not personal advice; goals, time horizon and income stability also matter.
